OS X 10.5.5 appears to have fixed the video problems with Warcrack. I hear it’s also improved performance in other games. Long time coming.
My one substantive complaint about the Nokia E71: the numeric keys aren’t sufficiently distinct. There’s a subtle colour difference and there’s the little nub on ‘5′, but I’d be happier with an arrangement more like the Treo Pro.
The other complaint about the E71 is that Symbian simply isn’t as spiffy as the iPhone interface, but the trade-off is that it’s also a much more featureful device. I don’t think I’d be willing to give up the SIP client for the pretty.
Can’t believe Google have explicitly disallowed VOIP clients on Android. So pleased Nokia/Symbian didn’t bow to that sort of stupid with S60. Wild uneducated guess: the European telcos don’t care about it, so it’s only the American platforms that get crippled like this.

I’ve been looking at an e71 as a possibility to combine my palm z22 and sony ericsson phone.
My main problem seems to be the lack of colour coding of calendar categories across most smart phones. Does the e71 have it? its hard to tell with nokia’s website.
If it seems like a small thing to base picking a phone on, its my favourite function of my palm as it allows me to see what type of activity at a glance
Are you using a third-party calendar tool on the Palm? I just checked on my TX and there’s no colouring, just categories which don’t display unless you dig into the detail or use them for filtering…
The E71 doesn’t appear to do colouring. It just does priorities.
The iPod Touch does do colours: you have any number of calendars in the thing, each one shows as a different colour. I would expect the iPhone to behave the same way as it’s essentially the same application.
There are third-party tools for Symbian but it looks like a lot of them are aimed at the corporate market where paying $100+ for a lousy calendar or contact manager is acceptable…
In terms of sheer niceness of the builtin apps, iPhone wins hands-down. If it did SIP I’d probably have bought one.
no i refused to upgrade to the latest palm desktop and palm os. the latest one which they outsourced no longer has support for colour coded categories but the older version does. however i hit a wall when i got a PC that should have a 64 bit OS, as the older version will run on vista 32 bit (but not add programs on my palm) however will not sync at all with 64 bit… Hence the search for a new pda phone
